The preparation started many months ago and with a simple
idea to bring writers together and talk. It evolved into the Writers Expo a day
of speakers and presentations including poetry. Part of the Kyneton Daffodil
and Arts Festival celebrating its fortieth year.
Maureen was a bulwark and backstop as usual and supported me
up all along the way. Margaret and Eric Dericoat were a great support and help.
They provided the venue, liaison with the Daffodil Committee and vitally the encouragement to
keep going. Graeme Bloomfield provided practical assistance in setting up the
venue.
The day was a great success with many people at Lindsay
Tanners keynote talk and a steady attendance at the other presenters. I was a
bit optimistic with allowing for presenters to stick to the time and to have
enough time. I will have to plan more breaks into next year’s program.
The poet’s hour was very powerful and prompts me to think
about having a separate poet’s café or session.
The interaction between the writers was one of the best
things about the day and was a real encouragement to me and the other participants.
Sales of the writer’s books was not high but added something
to the day and I will keep this going.
The calibre of the presenters was very, very good amazing
really.
A great day and wonderful to think that there is such
talented people around.
It is great to mix with people who are being so creative
thanks everyone. If you need any of the above people to write or present they
will not let you down.
