The Monsters# down the street.

The Monsters down the street.

On average $100 is spent by every Australian at a Woolworths or Coles store or affiliate! Staggering really that our politicians and regulators have let this happen to our retail sector. They have not only let it happen they are the beneficiaries of a large financial windfall from these giants. Either through the Cormack Foundation (Conservative Parties) or on the other side the employees union  (SDA). Many former political insiders and politicians themselves work for the two giants.

The people who work for these companies of course are not bad they are just like you and me making a living and doing the best they can. But at the same time they work for companies that have a profound affect on our way of life and landscape. The corporation structure and ethos is designed to 'allay personal morality.' (Ambrose Bierce) Thus they can send farmers, small business and suppliers to the wall all in the name of taking care of business and their share holders.

Four hundred thousand people work in these two giant corporations, it is hard to get  your head around these figures. They affect hundreds of thousands more farmers, suppliers , manufacturers and of course their competitors co- tenants and retailers.

They increasingly rely on junk and addictive foods for their revenue pace setting despite their slick marketing and promotional
propaganda about fresh food and healthy lifestyles.

Next time you are down the street think about what you are buying and who you are buying it off and at what cost. Their is an 80% chance you are buying it from either Coles, Woolworths or an affiliate.

Ask yourself 'Can that be good for the country'?
