The Endless Summer
Sometimes just sometimes you think it will never end; those days of thongs, summer ale, Bar-B-Q's, beaches, tomatoes, bikini girls, light and cheer. It is a time for families and friends sharing the light rather than shadows, of outdoors and air rather than indoors and claustrophobia.
The longs days stretch for eternity from the golden promise of the virgin day where the air is as soft and gentle as a lovers touch, to the crispness and of the mid day crunch, the burning desire and brutality of the afternoon scorch to the lazy fading torpor of the evening twilight.
The energy of the springtime seeding, mating, vitality and surge has long ago morphed into the steady pulsing of an incessant growing of the new. This brings on a wonder and awe at the power and mystery of a nature that will not be defined or contained.
The slowness of the winter hibernation is now a distant memory replaced by the urgency of things that can and must be done in the possibility of long days of sun.
But it will and it must end for just as the days have resurrected into a creature of the sun they as surely have begun their retreat into the creature of the shadow.
But let us not dwell on the future but in this moment of light and haze, of fun and laughter, feast and delight for we have been blessed by the endless possibility of the seasons and this glorious summer in particular.
Note: Have just returned from our annual family holiday by the beach, what a glorious time it was.
Thanks ...
