As I researched for my book in the making; Daughters... I came across this epitaph for my Mum on an old memory stick which was printed on the back of her mass book. It brought back wonderful and sad memories of the past and reminded me that I owed my life past, present and future to her. Thanks Mum I love you.
We remember the warmth of your touch, the
caress of your hands as we lay sick or wounded.
We remember the wonderful smells of your
kitchen as we came in; and the advice and counsel offered as your hands never
ceased creating those wonderful, delicious dishes.
We remember the tears you shed as we left
for where ever, the tears of joy as we came back.
We
remember the hugs as we failed and the hugs when we triumphed.
We remember that knowing smile, as we
introduced our future life mates to you.
We remember your generosity to us and to
those who needed help.
We remember your love of games, and of the
many hours we spent playing them with you.
We remember the times we celebrated with
you and joined in the feasts you created.
We remember the music that tumbled joyfully
from your piano, the dancing and singing with our loved ones to its wondrous
cadences.
We remember the times we cried with you;
and clung to each other.
We remember many things, but mostly we
remember the love that you gave and had for us.
